A night of gastronomical Belgian delights, breath-taking performances in both Flemish & French and an ample supply of the smoothest Belgian beer.

Held in the prestigious Renaissance Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Belgium’s King’s Day Celebration was about remembering and preserving Belgium’s unique culture six thousand miles away from home.

As MBLBC is essentially a business council that aims to facilitates positive relations between Malaysia and Belgium, we’re glad that the event brought together citizens from these countries & more, hopefully fostering new fruitful kinships and to show that there is always strength in unity.

A big thank you to all our sponsors, collaborators, organizers and everyone else who contributed in some special way to make our King’s Day celebration possible.

Ever since 1866, for over 148 years King’s Day has been celebrated in honour of the Belgian monarch. 15 November marks the first day of the Feast of Saint Leopold in the German liturgical calendar, while it is the Feast of Saint Albert in the Roman Catholic Calendar.

Initially called ‘Day of Dynasty’ or ‘Feast of Dynasty’, the term ‘King’s Day’ was made official after a circular was issued by the government in 1953

Belgium’s first two kings and the country’s fourth King were called Leopold, while the third and sixth King of the Belgians was called Albert. he late King Boudewijn kept up the tradition of royal celebrations on 15 November.

Belgium’s current king, King Philippe was crowned King on the 21st of July 2013.

The Belgian Week will be launched on 16th November during the Embassy’s official King’s Day Reception. Belgium’s King’s Day, celebrated on 15th November, is the occasion on which Belgians celebrate their Monarchy.

This year, the Malaysia Belgium Luxemburg Business Council (MBLBC) has agreed to add luster to the reception by organizing a special cultural and entertainment programme, which will feature some of Belgium’s most important traditions
